A new look for Mira, officially launched with its new website!

Montreal, May 14, 2018 - Nurun has created a new website for Mira, a non-profit organization that provides guide dogs and service dogs for people with visual or motor impairments. This project is intended to increase Mira’s donor base and fix various communication issues that it has faced for many years.

“The Nurun team was eager to work with an organization that it cares about. When we met with Mira, our team saw a real opportunity to raise a considerable technological challenge while supporting a good cause. The mission was to create a fully usable and accessible website for people with visual or motor impairments that would provide an unabridged and intuitive experience while reflecting the strong Mira brand image,” explains Christian Ayotte, General Manager of Nurun.

A new identity for Mira
Why does the Quebec public only know about Mira’s service dogs for the visually impaired and the blind, even though the organization offers other services? This question was central to the project’s first step. The answer was mainly found in Mira’s emblematic logo. It turned out that the logo significantly contributed to the public’s biased perception. Ultimately, the new website’s design began by redefining Mira's brand identity. This included redesigning not only its logo, but also the presentation of each of the services it offers. The effort helped to clearly reposition the organization's mission while maintaining its strong image.

Accessibility and usability at the heart of the website
Next, the team had to define Mira’s digital identity. Given Mira's target clientele, they focused on accessibility. Right from the discovery and definition phase, they took into account the reality of different stakeholders, including how Mira beneficiaries interact with the organization and how digital technology could fulfil their needs. The artistic direction, user experience, content and development were fully designed with the goal of making the site 100% accessible. This focus did not however preclude usability! The involvement of different experts, as well as the manner in which they collaborated, made it possible to create a new highly accessible website that can be used by anyone.

“All of Mira's services and activities are based on the principle of the equality of all bodies: what
is accessible to the general public should also be to a person with a disability. Thanks to the
work done by Nurun, our mission is perfectly reflected on our website, both for beneficiaries and
the public at large. This partnership has made it possible for us to better support our users, right
from the beginning of their relationship with our organization," says Nicolas St-Pierre, General Manager of Mira.

The new identity will be deployed on Mira's other communications media in the near future, in
collaboration with the agency Quatre par Quatre.
